DIFFERENT PEOPLE

Different People are a 4 piece alternative rock band from Essex, blending rock with a punk spirit, heavier moments akin to the 90's grunge scene but with a resolute British sound. Formed in the early part of 2014, the band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew Whitta, lead guitarist Lee Sambridge, bassist Alissa Owen, and drummer David Nolan.

The band soon began making a name for themselves on the Essex and London live circuit with their high energy live sets and engaging performances, supporting Scouting For Girls in November 2014. After forging an alliance with Backwater Channel Records the band released their debut EP in 2016 entitled Picture Perfect, available to purchase in physical format and via digital download from our store.

Following the release of their debut EP the band returned to the studio and began crafting new material and developing their sound resulting in a 2-track special release in 2017 featuring the heavy hitting track Best Before Used By (and its accompanying video directed by Kana Waiwaiku) and the contrasting Ain't To Fade (Acoustic) which found the band venturing into broader territory both musically and lyrically.

With new material forged, 2017 saw the band undertake a busy gigging schedule playing a number of venues across London and the surrounding counties that included The Forum - Hertfordshire, Proud - Camden, and The Dome - Tufnell Park.

2019 sees the band poised to drop 2 brand new EP's; a 4 track acoustic EP which although the previously released song Aint To Fade offered a slight hint at this acoustic sound, this will be a significant departure from the bands usual output and will certainly reveal to the listener a whole new dimension to the band. The 2nd EP will see the band turning those amps back on and cranking the volume up to 11 for a batch of electric songs that will include Tango, Kintsukuroi, and All These Friends which have all become firm favourites for the crowd at Different People's shows.

A selection of tracks by the band Different People can be heard below and details of all upcoming gigs can be found here.

"They blend rock with a punk spirit, heavier moments akin to the early 90's grunge scene and with massive soaring melodies, so in a word they traverse genres".

"If, like myself, you long for the twang of wayward guitars and London accents of Brit-rock, then look no further." - Nick, Moshville Times.
